Are They Just Words?

Today, as I do my normal new year planning, I am pondering "what are 'words'?".   I am making my lists that will ultimately be  stripped down to make a goals list for 2016.  It will include everything from my walk with the Lord, my role as a wife to Bradley, my role as mom to my babies,  as well as my role in friendships and of course work goals.   I have done this for so long I can't remember it not being a normal part of my new year activities.  Although I will say it takes me almost a MONTH now to get my list done where it used to be written in an hour before I was married and had kids. The obvious reason for this is the weight of my choices is much graver now .   The decisions I make and the things I choose to spend time on now have so many more consequences.  Every aspect of my life will ultimately affect someone else.  Either someone close to me or maybe someone who only sees me from a distance. I...

Have You Thought About Albert Lately?

Have You Thought About Albert Lately? "As far as I'm concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue" This is a quote from someone I had heard of my whole life  but never really knew much about. It was Albert Einstein.    My son, Cotton,  had to do a report on him a few years back and as we researched him I was completely blown away!  A very interesting life, for certain.  You can research him for yourself and I feel sure you may be surprised as well.  In the photo below, are Cotton's feet.  The view is our back yard.  We feel so blessed to be living where we are.  We are surrounded by fields and trees. A perfect place to sit, imagine, reflect.  The quote above left me reminded of Proverbs 17:28 that states, "Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive." When we sit still we are able to listen.  We are able to hear....

Just Trying to Enjoy It All 2

Check it out! This was on the cover of the local sports page. That #18 being "upended" was my son, Kelly. Ah, how cool to get a big ole picture in the paper as a freshman??   Pretty cool, even if you are being "upended" .  We laughed so hard when we saw this.   Kelly didn't mind at all.  He joked about it and had a ton of fun with it.   You see, he was starting as a freshman for our varsity football team.   He was just pumped and excited to be a part of a team he loves so much.  Yep!  That's my boy! Both of my boys played football this year.  I loved catching this moment after a game    Kelly Freshman year Cotton playing his 7th grade year And the SMS Tigers came out as County Champs! This school year was starting off pretty great.  We were really starting to feel "settled" into our home  and life.  You know, life with 3 kids can be a bit hectic.  But we were getting into ...

Just Trying to Enjoy It All

Do you see this couple?  They look pretty happy don't they? It's so easy to smile like this when you have no idea what is around the corner. Ignorance is bliss ! The photo above was taken in late July of 2012  at our church's Alive event that they hold every year.   Bradley, my husband, and a group of musician friends  that he plays with were performing that night. It's always hot as all get out but is always a fun night.   This event is kind of a kick start back into  fall and the beginning of school and sort of an End of Summer Blast. We love love it. Now these precious kids are ours. Ahhh, it makes me smile just to think that they belong to me.   (Oh yes, and to my Bradley too) This photo was taken about the same time.  Probably more like early August of 2012. They are truly incredible kids and not just because they are mine.   My parents and Brad's parents both agree that they are incredible too...

a jennyleigh salon?

a jennyleigh salon? Yikes!!! Well this was something I didn't see coming.  At least not at this time in my life. But I am so thankful that God has plans for us that we can't see. Which is probably a good thing.  I would most likely turn and run the other direction.   His timing is perfect and his ways are higher than our ways. This is an opportunity to put into action some of the things that God has  planted in my heart to do.  It's also been the biggest blessing for our family. Over the next couple of posts I will fill you in on how this little adventure came to be. I think you'll get a kick out of the marvelous works that God has done. A story of trust and faith building that I wasn't ready for. A story of stepping one step at a time because that is all that was lit up. God never said he would show us His whole plan but would reveal it as the time was right.  That is where we have been for that last couple of years. A...
