Are They Just Words?

Today, as I do my normal new year planning, I am pondering "what are 'words'?".   I am making my lists that will ultimately be  stripped down to make a goals list for 2016.  It will include everything from my walk with the Lord, my role as a wife to Bradley, my role as mom to my babies,  as well as my role in friendships and of course work goals.   I have done this for so long I can't remember it not being a normal part of my new year activities.  Although I will say it takes me almost a MONTH now to get my list done where it used to be written in an hour before I was married and had kids. The obvious reason for this is the weight of my choices is much graver now .   The decisions I make and the things I choose to spend time on now have so many more consequences.  Every aspect of my life will ultimately affect someone else.  Either someone close to me or maybe someone who only sees me from a distance. I...

Have You Thought About Albert Lately?

Have You Thought About Albert Lately? "As far as I'm concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue" This is a quote from someone I had heard of my whole life  but never really knew much about. It was Albert Einstein.    My son, Cotton,  had to do a report on him a few years back and as we researched him I was completely blown away!  A very interesting life, for certain.  You can research him for yourself and I feel sure you may be surprised as well.  In the photo below, are Cotton's feet.  The view is our back yard.  We feel so blessed to be living where we are.  We are surrounded by fields and trees. A perfect place to sit, imagine, reflect.  The quote above left me reminded of Proverbs 17:28 that states, "Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive." When we sit still we are able to listen.  We are able to hear....

Just Trying to Enjoy It All 2

Check it out! This was on the cover of the local sports page. That #18 being "upended" was my son, Kelly. Ah, how cool to get a big ole picture in the paper as a freshman??   Pretty cool, even if you are being "upended" .  We laughed so hard when we saw this.   Kelly didn't mind at all.  He joked about it and had a ton of fun with it.   You see, he was starting as a freshman for our varsity football team.   He was just pumped and excited to be a part of a team he loves so much.  Yep!  That's my boy! Both of my boys played football this year.  I loved catching this moment after a game    Kelly Freshman year Cotton playing his 7th grade year And the SMS Tigers came out as County Champs! This school year was starting off pretty great.  We were really starting to feel "settled" into our home  and life.  You know, life with 3 kids can be a bit hectic.  But we were getting into ...

Just Trying to Enjoy It All

Do you see this couple?  They look pretty happy don't they? It's so easy to smile like this when you have no idea what is around the corner. Ignorance is bliss ! The photo above was taken in late July of 2012  at our church's Alive event that they hold every year.   Bradley, my husband, and a group of musician friends  that he plays with were performing that night. It's always hot as all get out but is always a fun night.   This event is kind of a kick start back into  fall and the beginning of school and sort of an End of Summer Blast. We love love it. Now these precious kids are ours. Ahhh, it makes me smile just to think that they belong to me.   (Oh yes, and to my Bradley too) This photo was taken about the same time.  Probably more like early August of 2012. They are truly incredible kids and not just because they are mine.   My parents and Brad's parents both agree that they are incredible too...

Psalm 18:2

The Lord is my rock, my fortress! This verse has been in my head for a while now.   I would love to say I had memorized this verse and so therefore it brought me comfort.  But I had not memorized it.  It has brought me comfort though.   The words, "The Lord is my rock, my fortress...." was all I have heard.   Those few words have helped me. Funny how God's word does that for us. Even only knowing part of a verse can do good. His word is powerful.  (His word is worthy of me memorizing more scripture! lol)  He has been my rock.  He has provided for me and for my family in ways that I never  could've imagined. And really in ways that make me want to tell what He has done. I treasure each provision.  Grateful for the love of our heavenly Father. So yesterday I had those few words on mind again so I finally stopped what I was doing and looked it up.   And as tears rolled down my cheek...

Disaster to Diva's post

So excited. I did a super duper conditioning treatment on my hair last night and it looked and felt FaBuLoUs today!  I used Kenra Nourishing Masque on freshly shampooed hair.  I saturated all of my hair (scalp too) from base to the ends.  Left it for 15 minutes and rinsed it out.  Hairdressers are often like plumbers, they keep everybody else working and yet their own pipes are clogged up.  So it felt fantastic today for my hair to be so shiny and bouncy! I curled it on a 1" clipless wand and shook it out.  Now go check out the Before & After's page.  Just posted some that you have GOT to go see! Have you ever had any of your own "mess ups" with your hair??  Tell me about it.  I always love a good laugh!  LOL

Unstructured Natural Looking Waves

Isn't she BeAuTiFuL???  She is and has a personality that is just as gorgeous!! This is Lucy and she's a gem even with her normally straight, slightly coarse hair.  Here's how we took her from straight to silky, bouncy, super natural looking waves . We scored 2 different looks.  And YOU can too with this simple but unique process.  Here we go... If you're starting with clean hair then you've got to dirty it up a bit.  I used Kenra Firm Hold Mousse all over on dry hair.  Then added Brocato's Rootfix from the scalp and up the hairshaft about 2 1/2".  Love this stuff.  It makes it rough without feeling hard or stiff.  Then did a semi-rough blow out til the hair was comepletely dry again. Starting with the nape, section the hair off into 2x2" sections.  Pull the strands out and twist. Twist the strands back to the head and secure with roller set pins or hair pins. Repeat until all the hair is twisted and secured except for the ba...

You're Special. In a Good Way!! #4

You've Got Skill HELLO my marvelous, life-embracing, fearless friends!  Did you know that you are more than just a pretty face ??? Oh yes, it's true. Baby, you've got depth, you've got intellect, you've got that certain, .... oh how you say? Je ne sais quois Do you know what that means? It's French for I don't know what . Hahaha I love that.  But it's true.  You've got skills that I don't know about.  You've got that certain something that God can use to make this world a better place and more importantly, bring glory to Him.  Remember, 1Corinthians 10:31 says Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. WHATEVER you do, let it bring glory to God.  The world will be a more beautiful - loving - FUN place. So let's help a brother or a sister out by whatever means and resources God has given you. Are you an encourager?   Well, don't hold back. Is making food for others your thing?   Then ...

You're Special. In a Good Way!! #2

2.  You Have Life!!!! John 10:10 ....I have come that they may have life, and  that they may have it more abundantly Woo  Hoooo!!  Life is calling!! Over here!!   **********  Helloooooo?????? You are special my friend because God has LIFE for YOU. I always get bummed to see Christians walking around with the mully grubs all the time. (yes ma'am, I just said, "mully grubs") We all have our moments  -  granted. But let's keep it at that - moments. I'm pretty sure Ecclessiates mentions a time to mully grub but it's just for a time (btw, that IS a joke) We've got so many blessings and things to celebrate! Jesus came to die willingly for us to L  I  V  E To live with Him in eternity but definitely so we can have a fuller and more meaningful life here until that perfect time comes. It's time to Carpe' Diem .  Grab that bull by the horns. Sing out loud      Dance a little dance Put a hop...

Beauty & the Bible The Collection pt 4: "Ocean"

Moving on. If you're new to the blog, PLEASE go back and read the 3 previous entries. I know it'll be worth it. And thanks, I'm glad you're here! As a recap, I'm imagining God as my personal stylist. I've tried on 3 looks so far during my style session. You've got to read all about it. "Salvation", "Active Wear", and "Fierce". All very different looks but equally essential parts of this collection. As I look around for my next look I feel God going in a very different direction. A bit more serene. --I've been saved---I'm running here, there, and everywhere---I've even done some spriritual battle. But I can feel a draw that is pulling me to an outfit that's not so much for show but more for a comfortable, sweet, bonding time. I can't help but think of white, light, gauzy like material. So of course I imagine that God has planted me on the beach. In the late afternoon I can feel the light warmth ...
