Psalm 18:2

The Lord is my rock, my fortress!

This verse has been in my head for a while now.
I would love to say I had memorized this verse and so therefore it brought me comfort.  But I had not memorized it.  It has brought me comfort though.
The words, "The Lord is my rock, my fortress...." was all I have heard.
Those few words have helped me.
Funny how God's word does that for us. Even only knowing part of a verse can do good.
His word is powerful.  (His word is worthy of me memorizing more scripture! lol)
He has been my rock.  He has provided for me and for my family in ways that I never
could've imagined. And really in ways that make me want to tell what He has done.
I treasure each provision.  Grateful for the love of our heavenly Father.

So yesterday I had those few words on mind again so I finally stopped
what I was doing and looked it up.
And as tears rolled down my cheeks, this is what I read:

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

Every line makes me stop.  Every line holds weight of its own.
It holds hope.  It holds my weaknesses.
And oh how weak I am!  I NEED Him to hold my weaknesses.  I find so many times that I just can't do it.  How thankful I am that when I call on Him He hears me.
He's actually waiting to hear from me. This is what He does.
Our profession is what we "do".  Our personality type is who we "are".
A giver gives.  A hugger hugs.  An encourager encourages. A funny guy makes you laugh.
It's what they "do".
Well this is what God does.  This is what He is.
He is my rock.  He is my fortress.  He is my one who saves me.
He is the one who gives protection.  He is the one who makes me safe.
Safe and in good hands.

Here's to hoping these words will encourage you today.
What about you?  Do you have any special verses or words that encourage you?
You just may encourage someone else by your response so please do! :-)

Sleek, Shiny Braided Chignon

This is such a pretty look.  It goes super dressed up or super casual. Either way, it's a classic with an interesting twist. One that is sure to make others want to get a closer look to see how you did it. And the big bonus is, it is SO easy. Love easy! So we are borrowing a few pics from an earlier post, the  braided bun . (click on "braided bun" to take you there) So first, we start off with a braided ponytail.  This can be high on the head or lower. I'll elaborate on that at the end of the post. Then give the braid a slight tug to loosen and soften the braid.  It'll make the braid more pliable. Now just simply wrap the braid around your ponytail band and tuck the ends under. Pin on bottom first then pin on top to secure. Pin around the edges and since a braid is heavier and stiffer, it may take a few pins to make sure it holds. Sorry there aren't any pics of this stage but it's hard to snap all the steps. ...

Beauty and the Bible

Psalm 149:4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. "He will beautify the humble with salvation"~~ If God were my Rachel Zoe, my own personal stylist, He would first choose to clothe me in salvation. "..Clothe me in salvation". Before He can do this He has to get me ready for my style session. This takes a bit of planning and thought. God must set the stage, so to speak. A good stylist plans, prepares, gathers needed material, and gets a full vision for the overall and complete look. In this case, I was so unattractive or plainly said, ugly as sin or maybe better to say "ugly with sin". This sin is so ugly that He cannot even look on me. If we started here God wouldn't even be able to take my measurements. God cannot be with sin. He sees this as a problem that must be fixed. We've got to wash sin away. The sin must go before anything can be done. As you've seen on What Not To Wear ...

Beauty & the Bible The Collection pt 4: "Ocean"

Moving on. If you're new to the blog, PLEASE go back and read the 3 previous entries. I know it'll be worth it. And thanks, I'm glad you're here! As a recap, I'm imagining God as my personal stylist. I've tried on 3 looks so far during my style session. You've got to read all about it. "Salvation", "Active Wear", and "Fierce". All very different looks but equally essential parts of this collection. As I look around for my next look I feel God going in a very different direction. A bit more serene. --I've been saved---I'm running here, there, and everywhere---I've even done some spriritual battle. But I can feel a draw that is pulling me to an outfit that's not so much for show but more for a comfortable, sweet, bonding time. I can't help but think of white, light, gauzy like material. So of course I imagine that God has planted me on the beach. In the late afternoon I can feel the light warmth ...
