Pink It OUT!

Pink It OUT!!
(or red it out)

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month,
I would like to share one of my most favorite moments.
This sweet lady was referred to me by a friend.
She had not had her hair done in several years.
In fact, she had not had HAIR in a long time!!!
By the grace of God she is now cancer free!!
I had the pleasure of giving her a new style and some "Boom Pow" hair color.
The red gives color to her skin and makes her green eyes POP!

Those beautiful green eyes.
I loved seeing her joy bubble up!
With this vibrant, brilliant red she will be stopped often for a compliment
and have the opportunity to share her story.

For all those who are battling this cancer know that many have come before you.
And every time God our Healer has stepped in to make His power known.
Trust that He knows the story He is writing with your life.
You can count on Him to be faithful to carry you through.
Be faithful to Him as He works so mightily in your life.
And know, child of God, that there are people, like me,
who are watching in awe of your strength.
Many prayers for you are being laid at His feet for comfort, peace and HEALING!!!

Pink It OUT!!!

Sleek, Shiny Braided Chignon

This is such a pretty look.  It goes super dressed up or super casual. Either way, it's a classic with an interesting twist. One that is sure to make others want to get a closer look to see how you did it. And the big bonus is, it is SO easy. Love easy! So we are borrowing a few pics from an earlier post, the  braided bun . (click on "braided bun" to take you there) So first, we start off with a braided ponytail.  This can be high on the head or lower. I'll elaborate on that at the end of the post. Then give the braid a slight tug to loosen and soften the braid.  It'll make the braid more pliable. Now just simply wrap the braid around your ponytail band and tuck the ends under. Pin on bottom first then pin on top to secure. Pin around the edges and since a braid is heavier and stiffer, it may take a few pins to make sure it holds. Sorry there aren't any pics of this stage but it's hard to snap all the steps. ...

Beauty and the Bible

Psalm 149:4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. "He will beautify the humble with salvation"~~ If God were my Rachel Zoe, my own personal stylist, He would first choose to clothe me in salvation. "..Clothe me in salvation". Before He can do this He has to get me ready for my style session. This takes a bit of planning and thought. God must set the stage, so to speak. A good stylist plans, prepares, gathers needed material, and gets a full vision for the overall and complete look. In this case, I was so unattractive or plainly said, ugly as sin or maybe better to say "ugly with sin". This sin is so ugly that He cannot even look on me. If we started here God wouldn't even be able to take my measurements. God cannot be with sin. He sees this as a problem that must be fixed. We've got to wash sin away. The sin must go before anything can be done. As you've seen on What Not To Wear ...

Hi-dy Heidi

Hi-dy Heidi I try to do a twist on the traditional "before and after" pics as often as I can.    I really like the phrasing, "Inspiration to Commercial".   Most often people see a photo of a celebrity or a model and  use that as a request for their haircut. Now some hairdressers are not fond of clients bringing in pictures  but personally I LOVE them.   It is such a great tool for communicating with your client. It gives you something specific, even tangible, to point to as a reference. You can use it for bang length, perimeter length,  the point where layers begin or where fullness is in a hairstyle.   Things that sometimes get lost in translation when using words alone.  My beautiful model for this post is the lovely Heidi.   Having known Heidi forever, we have been through a lot over the years. We've also been through a LOT of hairstyles.   And some of them have been rather hysteric...
