Ombre' Extensions!  Ombre' extensions  Ok, we know I've been diggin' the fishbone braid lots lately but sometimes I want it to be a little longer.   No prob.  I threw in some clip-on extensions that I had when my hair was more of a golden blonde.  I know it doesn't even come close to matching but when it's woven in with my natural hair it looks beautifully Ombre' !!!  (Ombre' is when the hair starts dark and gradually gets lighter toward the ends)   Here's another view. Ok this may sound funny; but I am a little like Shrek.  I'm not green or abnormally tall (although my ears do stick out a little).  But layers.  I have many layers.  Ogres have layers.  I have layers.  Nothing is ever as it seems.  Shrek had a lot more heart than anyone thought.  Not quite the big, dumb ogre that everyone thought he was.  Usually people aren't as shallow as we first think. At least they aren't once we've given them a chance to see more.  And aren't we glad too? Fishbone Braid Before getting started on our session today we had to take a "before" picture. So here she is, the most incredibly fun chickie you'll ever meet. And lucky for me, she loves helping me out. Btw, I'm talking about the cutie on the left. Lol A Fishbone Braid is a cute twist on a traditional braid. It's perfect for those with longer hair and even better for those with long layers. Since it's kind of wordy to describe, I'll get going. So first, you need to give the hair a good brushing and separate the hair into two main sections. Using your right index finger, separate an outside piece of the right main section.  Be careful to hold each section snuggly in your fingers. This may take a bit of practice, especially if you have lots of layers.   Now simply take your outer section and cross it over to the left main section.  Hold it snuggly in your left hand. Happy! Ok so today was a fantastic sort of day. It was a Friday and I don't usually work on Fridays so for some reason it's fun to work on that day. I suppose everyone is getting ready for the weekend and it makes everyone a little happier. Whatever it is, it was good. My dear friend came to see me and since we haven't seen each other much this summer it was good to catch up. I LOVE doing hair so add a good friend, good conversation, good hair, and a good weekend ahead you are left with a "good" day. Ok, so you get it. It was good. LOL So here she is. This is my "man-brained, Sequoia Sister" friend Heather. She keeps me real and in check and I love her. And although she always questions me about my techniques and processes, she also always seems to come out BEAUTIFUL.
